YAZMEEN KANJI
In conversation with Yazmeen: a young director, and a third year undergraduate student at UofT, pursuing a double major in Equity Studies and Peace, Conflict and Justice, with a minor in Cinema studies. She has spent the last year and a half working on a documentary entitled From Syria to Hope. The film follows the lives of three Syrian families who arrived in Canada under refugee status, in an attempt to combat xenophobia and islamophobia. This film however, is just one of the projects she and her team have undertaken, as part of her organization, Films with a Cause. THE RED CODE
In conversation with The Red Code: Sana Khan, Sara Khan and Mahin Usman are three young girls who won the UNICEF Generation Unlimited Youth Challenge 2019 for their idea to create a social enterprise, The Red Code, that would provide eco-friendly, reusable and hygienic cloth pads to women in low-income neighbourhoods. From the conception of their project to the development of their prototype and its future, today’s conversation follows their journey in providing better sanitary pads and information to disadvantaged women and girls in Karachi, Pakistan.
